Foil - wave riding

but no Hydrofoil can replace the human spirit of surfing, the direct contact with the water.

Who says a foil would replace it? Afraid you do not want to understand the point which is: foilers might have fun in waves too.

Please guys could you read with a will to understand:
yes, you feel the wave under feet once foiling it. Foilers do not fly in the air. They still ride the water.
It’s a different feeling. Might be worse or might be better. I do not know yet.

BTW.
I am giving up till some of disbelievers would learn how to ride a foil and would be able to write what they feel underneath their feet but not from their keyboards

We all have to be ourselves on the water especially in the type of waters we ride all the time

Sure i am in the waves..not big ...but good quality and consistent...and sometime yes overhead

Our 11th time world champ Kelly when younger surfed just 1/2 mile North of where i ride & live now

I like to come in on waves all the way into one foot of water

I like to slow down to a crawl in some instances in the waves...foilboards are not ideal for that

I like to do a huge spray when i rip the top of a wave toeside to heelside or heelside to toeside

I like that i can go back upwind already easily in one tack with my kites and boards after a wave

I like especially that all my gear fits fast and easily in the back of my Honda Civic car

BraCuru i kitesurf with a Polish guy at my beach and he is quite an OK guy...just like you i can tell

Lots of enthusiasm and always having fun no matter what...just playing in the wind

Please Don't give up ; humans have a tendency to do that when
things go adverse. When a bit of a challenge comes along, that's when
Ya turn it up a notch or two.

I have been foiling in waves for about 6 months ,I find the best conditions are when the wind is just too light for the kiter's and sail boards with a 2 metre even swell cross shore wind .what I like to do is foil out about 1 km or more then get onto a set and just fly in, its amazing the speed you go with no sound fully keeping up with the swell and you can carve the foil there is just no spray one thing a surfer doesn’t experience is the power you control in the foil board ,just like you control the power in your kite you got a powered foil board under your feet plus the power of the wave , it might look lame to non foilers but kite surfing looks lame to some surfers once you have a go I would like to know what you think.

Here is my 2 cents on wave riding with foils.

"Normal" Waveriding (normal size breaking waves) is not really doable on a foil.
For me it's all about using the right tools for that the right job,
and a Foilboard is not the right tool for having fun in those conditions.

HOWEVER.

Riding large ocean swells that are not quite breaking is another story.
This is where a normal surfboard does not really work and a foil is awesome…………>

No need to get upset about the foil not being good for waves.

Can it be ridden on the waves? Yes I.

It's possible to use skis to ride waves too. Like skiing on snow vs snowboarding, one is for fun and having a good time the other is for getting to point a to b easily.
