Hydrophobic Spray For Sunglasses?

Postby Slappysan » Wed Jul 31, 2013 6:25 pm

Anyone have any good recommendations for a hydrophobic spray for sunglasses?

Anyone tried Raincoat? http://www.motosolutions.com/raincoat.html

It would be nice not to have to apply it every time.

Some company just teamed up with Rustoleum to create a product called Never Wet. After watching some videos, I'm convinced this stuff is awesome. They sprayed an iphone with it and submerged it, so It looks like it could be clear enough to go on sunglasses. $20 a can at Lowes or homedepot but you need 2 cans, one base coat and top coat. $40 is a lot but im sure you could find excellent uses for two big cans.

Rain X, get it anywhere. Apply, let dry, buff off. Makes for spot-free vision for a few sessions. Can't beat it.

yeah, that NeverWet looked promising...
but they say "No" to "Dries clear?". I assume that means it won't work on eyewear

Neverwet dries Opaque. It is an amazing product but does not dry clear. It only costs 20$ for the 2 can kit, not 40$/

The best super-hydrophobic coating for eyeglasses today is the Crizal Avance.
