Just had a ''down patrol'' yesterday morning as there was no wind at all and I was ''down and out'' for the rest of the day...

How about "Sunrise Services"
It would mostly be appropriate on Sunday. "I was up early to attend Sunrise Services"

With any game I ever played as a kid which had a score, if someone got beat by a score of whatever to zero, that was considered getting skunked. Seems appropriate for doing all the prep to kite and getting no (or not enough) wind.
Obviously that stinks as well.
I better just quit after that one.
