is it my impression or these kites look a lot like 2009 waroo and nemesis shape and construction wise?

I'm surprised he didn't go with a buy 1 get 2 free deal or blow them out at $300 each. What sets them apart in a flooded market?

Just make them one color no graphics if it gets the price down. Switch kites might be "cheap"; but they are not cheap enough. Still lots of room for the price to go down.

Yeah it's kind of a joke that they are about $2100 complete for a completely unknown brand (although run by a big name), with a website that looks like it pulled off of geocities from 1995

They didn't even spell Shannon Best's name properly on his page. Best was a discount direct sales brand that jacked up its prices after establishing itself. No surprise they lost market share.
