Rip off. If you want one of these, you can get them online or from a pet shop for a fraction of the price.

Im useing this type for years, never had any problems. Very solid in the ground. I have made my one myself, but I think 50€ is ok.
I have also seen the petshop version,- often with a kiter running after it;-).

If you use the dog leash thing from pet shop, I would get 2 or 3 if using in sand. They are cheap. You will have to add a line and carabiner.

I use a tree anchor:

Probably overkill, they also have smaller ones, all of them are much better than a dog leash anchor.

William what is the length of the shaft on that tree anchor.

So they work well hey? Can they hold a big kite in decent winds?

The one I have is about 31", but I think the smaller ones would do. I use a small section of 1/2" pipe to screw it in. It holds very well, one of my friends had a kite go across the wind window while attached, the steel shaft was bent but it did not come out of the ground. I also use a strong rope and large snap latches.

Yup... silly expensive.

You can get a tree anchor from a good hardware store for $ 12. Goes even deeper and does not have the silly t handle on top that will be a trap and trip up booby trap after lunching.

Personally I don't like this self launch method. Big ass metal trap in the ground. Kite sitting on the edge of the wind window.... a quick wind shift and kite goes nuts.

Buried Bag of Sand with a tether far better and cheaper than that.

Scuba diving float anchors work very well for kites. Local scuba diving store was selling an anchor for $20 and better quality than the dog leash anchors...
