The BRM Clouds use something very similar to this instead of pulleys on the bridles. Works great.

I wonder how much wear this has on lines?

But looks a lot better than a pulley!

Details of how the friction compares of the Shock Block to some Ronstan pulleys.

That friction comparison doesn't include an RF13101 that's full of sand and salt and won't turn...

My sneaky inside sources tell me that these 8080s are already being installed on some 2014 kites.

If you scroll right to the bottom chart, they actually rate it's coolness!

Its basically saying that if you are lifting a 90kg load, you pull with

95kg using a free-running pulley and 3mm line or 5mm line

105kg using this block and 3mm line

107kg using this block and 5mm line

My Opinion - If the pulley was stuck, pull required would probably be about the same as the block but the pulley would wear more and isn't as strong in the first place.

They also claim in Note 4 that it has 33% less friction than a stainless steel or alloy thimble (slider).

Fone use to have Ronstan pulleys and They were crap.
Now they make there own type and they rock.
Blade used a similar device like this instead of pulleys, though don't know if they do anymore.
