few years back the UK Epic dealer sent me a 9m screamer with the sliding ring on the bridal. Within 10 minuites it snapped resulting in a death looping kite in 35mph...

Silt, sand and salt get inside the rope and you have a smooth metal ring wearing away at it slowly. Maybe they work on really nice clean and warm Greek beaches but in cold wet climates you have a lot of sand sticking to the bridal ropes.

Normal pullys are fine, it is not the pully that is the problem, it's the rope! Most kite companies are running the wrong rope on their bridals. I recommend "Marlow 3.8mm formuline" and a standard 4mm ronstan orbit or Riley pully. After over 100 sessions you struggle to see where the pully has run.

I ride RRD Obsessions and the pully is a standard 4mm ronstan on 3mm dyneema... they are bad and snap after 100 or so sessions. Replaced all the inserts with "marlow formuline" and virtually no wear any more. Interestingly the company in the UK that seems to have virtually NO issues is Flexifoil, they use 4mm Metal Riley pullys and decent rope.

Mmm...

Cabrinha uses sliders (on the kites I have) but they use that hard sheathed line too. I'm guessing it's like that Marlow stuff... hmm.

Very disappointing product.

What? That's nuts.

Plenty of kites have sliders now instead of pulleys.

Obviously something out of spec with your application. Good luck, I guess it's back to the pulley for you.

That's not a Dyneema line. It looks like a Dyneema core with some oddball sheathing on the outside. A slider won't work on that. 100% user error.

100s of hours on Naish pivots sliders very little bridle wear. I still prefer no pulleys or sliders as on my Ozone Enduro and Reo though more direct feel no wear or extra parts to worry about
