Seriously hydrofoil prosthetic!!!!! Man that could be the best. They would ban you from racing for sure. Probably start with something like a trick ski pair as the initial lift surface and bam you are going to be flying just like on skiis on snow but even less drag.

If you were going to Build a Raceboard

check out the TT racer from I think flysurfer. You could model your raceboard after that. Big retractable fin in the windward center of the board. It is not as good as a raceboard, but will deinitely take you out in lightish winds.

this is a GREAT idea, I've tried this board several times and upwind is great in light wind, comparable with 2011-12 raceboard, but easier to obtain, and no need to tack. I've tried with big foil kite but also with edge should be ok. the stance is really balanced between 2 feet so with prostheses i see it doable. best position is with the board superflat, to obtain this with prosthetic feet could have to modify pads or prosthetic ankle (more extension)

another easier and cheaper alternative is to make the board (a big tt with a little more rocker than a standard lightwind tt) and buy only the big retractable fin ( a friend of me did this applying the big fin to an old Rrd tt board (almost unrideable today) and literally flies up and downwind

Ps: prosthetic foils would be really super but I think needs a lot of work and time and test

too bad this is not about foilboards. There are thousands of theads about light wind boards and kites. But there is very little info on foilboards. That's what people are after--the latest and greatest. this thread will die quickly without any NEW discoveries, unless a foil is mentioned here and there.

Has anyone ever thought of making a foilboard with the mast in tension rather than compression, that is a hydro kite/"anti-hydrofoil"? Someone linked to something like that on foilzone. The guy used a FS 19m sp3 and managed to sail completely suspended by the kite, but the hydrofoil was only semi-submerged - as to facilitate passive control. Ideally the foil should be completely submerged and controlled actively, so maybe a two man crew is required.
If the two kites are directly linked, the rider strength is less important, since he only has to deal with the steering forces. It could be a good candidate for taking on hydrocoptere and the AC72s...

At more than 95kg, I can stay upwind in 10kn with my RRD Domingo and a 13,5m kite.
The domingo is a wide and forgiving board you could easily learn to jibe on, the 2012 version I have comes with 2-3 straps and wave or "race" central fin
