Well, that's what it made me thinks about our beloved sport ,when i found out this vids on the web.
There're some spots and some conditions that even if doable just for the thrill of it, KITING it just looks bad and out of place compared to other watersports ...
I love watch tow in/surf sessions at waves such as teahupoo or windsurfing sessions at jaws or cloudbreak as in this case but IMHO regarding kiting it's way more exciting to watch /ride a good big winds/swell session at anywhere beachbreak :D
what do you think ?

Agreed..lucky that guy didnt chop his head off on the lines...

I lived and surfed in Hawaii for many years and nothing beats a 6 foot wall ride on just a board alone.
But the paddles sucked... :cool2:

I see a problem with the spot. Its the wind angle that's shit. Yourve go so much less options with offshore in waves.

If this was cross shore with then it would be on like donkeykong.

Maybe if wind direction was strong cross shore as you said, probably the wave it shoudn't be the same.
My point is why hassle around with a kite when these spots are perfect for surfing . Also even surfers doesn't have room for nothing less than tube riding when this waves get significant height, so trying to emulate surfers with a kite is pointless . It all reduces to hurry up down the line trying the foamball not to eat me and not catching the lines with the falling lip
It is as stupid as trying to kite pipeline , it will look horrible :nono: d
It's another history with windsurfing, they have a great advantage over us in big waves and lightwinds, their bigger plannig surfaces to catch the waves and the apparent wind created going down at speed plus not in constant need of keeping the lines titght, allows them awsome rides in big waves as the one shown by Polakow in cloudbreak. It's a matter of physical laws
