Through ignorance and this case, end up with a pack of 20 irate kiters chasing you down the beach for sending a kite into the powerlines! RESEARCH the rules in advance, just don't rig and go.

If you try to launch and land at Smathers Beach in Key West, FL like you're at a "normal" launch you could send your kite into the powerlines as well. This small technical launch with the capacity for a handful of kiters has some serious issues you need to know before kiting here. There was a recent incident involving a kiter visiting from overseas which put heat on access there. Let's not give them a reason to shut us down from this unique launch (or any launch, do your homework before riding). More about what happened at:
