why would anyone even want to go ride big waves with a TT though ?

I understand plummetts frustration.

Doesn't matter what craft you are on, you need to follow the rotational policy, especially in conditions that short tacking etc could actually cause an injury.

But to say if you are on a SB you have priority, well that is bullshit.

I ride a mutant but sometimes I take out my SB strapless to change things up and most definelty when the waves are really good. But I have more fun in general on my mako, so that's what I choose to ride.

At our local everyone follows the rotation and if a SB or TT rider doesn't, then they are quickly pulled into line.

Riding a SB doesn't make you better nor does it give you right of way, unless you are in the right position regarding the rotation.

Don't know how it works elsewhere, but I can tell you right now a SB rider proclaiming to have right of way at out local will not be there for long, this is not a threat, this is fact. Seen it happen. Also it wasn't just TT riders having a word in his ear, my SB buddies were just as adamant.

What does earn my respect is a strapless SB rider, cranking out big air and rotations as well, now that's someone I would gladly get out of the way and watch and admire.

The rest of you, riding a SB is not that hard, get over yourself

actually the surfers, then stand ups, then strapless kiters, then the straped kiteboards, wether TT or little fake surfboards. is the lineup to drop in!

Mark Shinn rides Surfboards, Windsurf Rigs, Skimboards and Twintips in the waves.
He has not decided to quit riding any of the above in the surf, and he has been doing this a looooong time.
Maybe there is room for more than one thing, or more than one way to to do your thing, out in the surf.
Just a thought.

Saw this bullshit when I lived in Hawaii...I never EVER followed the 'protocol' surfing the North Shore.
When the big sets came in I would haul ass over them and grab the very last wave (usually the biggest anyways) and go left while the rule makers scrapped with each other over who got the right on the inside. As a SB kiter I'm not going near any 'rotations.' But at the same time I have no interest in causing sheep grief and would stay the hell away from them...

Not referring to Matty above but it seems to me the world is full of pretentious arseholes who get their jollies on hassling other people.

As an outside observer that only kites on a Lake ; it kind-a appears
that Some of these posters actually believe if your on a TT, you don't
belong on "There" waves ?

Like the guys that say my Long-board didn't get president , so it was OK to

clue my reflexes were fast enough to grab and UN-velcro his leash on my way by !!!
Made for a LONG swim back in & a Longer paddle back out ; he was usually Tired
enough to listen to reason after that.

Let me chime back in and state this is not happening at my local. The local boys here are all chilled out dudes. ..... . . .. . ...

But some of there attitudes on this forum are a lot to be desired.
