For years I expected North to come up with something better, but it only got worse.
Now someone wrote it be solved in
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2376560&start=30
Is it better now?
So that when completely depowered it doesn't wind around the backlines or the bar or the below-the-bar trim line?
Tx

Don't you just stick it to the velcro thinky...plus who has their kite compeltely depowered. If I think about touching more than an inch I'm changing kites, kites don't like to be flown depowered.

Unfortunately it looks like the 2014 bars are identical to 2013 with respect to the silly little excuse for a velcro strip that is supposed to keep the depower line from wrapping thrice around your flying lines. Admittedly it is slightly better than the 2012 bar but still sucks.
I am picking up a new bar next week so hopefully it is not as bad as it looks on the North website but I fear otherwise.
WestOzzy: Finally North has come out with proper kites in 4m2 so perhaps also us on Gran Canaria can do some summer sailing without the depower strap all the way bottomed out

Man if that's your biggest concern regarding a bar then I reckon you gotta get out and live a little just quietly.

Hi Silver, thanks and please inform us.
It will be my reason for changing brand since 2003.
The irritation just sank in too deep.
Ozzy, in case you meant my, not Silvers concern: the qr is more important but nowadays there's more good qrs than just North's.

So does that mean you will not choose a north kite because of the dangling thing which has made such a HUGE impact on you? Christ all mighty!

It would be awesome to see a picture of this. Description is a little confusing.

I had a similar problem with the switch bar (almost the same bar) and just tied a short line around the loop at the end of the trim line and the center lines. I tied it loose so it goes over the stopper and it works great.

See picture for explanation. Note that on the pic the depower strap is on full power.
Problem arrives when pulling the strap for full depower and the 'leftover end' (the one coming out on the lhs with a little velcro handle on it) becomes a 40cm loose tail that tends to wrap itself around the other lines.
The velcro ring is supposed to be attached to the velcro panel marked with 'insufficient grip' to avoid the loose end but unfortunately the grip between these two velcros is not sufficient.
