Has anyone changed the rear quad fins on a Nugget?

Postby Puetz » Fri Feb 07, 2014 2:02 am

Hello all,

Can I have your opinions, just wondering if any one has changed the rear quad fins on a Nugget, did you get any performance gains or losses?

Cheers,

Robbie :D

... the new nugget has more upright rear quad fins, what do you think they were aiming for by doing so? What performances do you think I would get if I put the older swept back fins?

Just do it, if you want more "performance", as it will deliver :thumb:

Havent tried it, but apparently even if the same size (a picture does not show fully), it is a bit more upright, giving better hold and a stiffer boardfeel.

So bad for the "looseness" in waves and bad for general wavefeel and smoothness, but better for performance.

... thanks Peter, your on to it, I asked the question on seabreeze and a cool link was given to me: http://jp.surffcs.com/jp/products/chara ... 69066f79fb the website explains well what effects different characteristics give you.

I going to try it anyway, just for sh!ts and giggles, I'm going to borrow a mates swept back fins and see for my self.

cheers for now,

Robbie :D

Yup - have played with a few different fin sets, part of the fun for me. Check out the Future Fins website and look at fin sets that match the stock sets in shapes and sizes, then you can tweak from there based on product description and what you're after.

I have surfed the nugget with both the 2014 and 2013 rears. Felt the 2014's were a bit too pivot-y but the 2013's were just right.

So exactly like expected with more upright head :naughty:

A bit more "performance" from the 2014, but 2013 feels better.

My mate has the 2014 5'2 Nugget with the 2013 fin set, seems happy enough as you can't wipe the smile from his face.
