Hi, I live in a spot where I can kite from home, but it can be a tricky launch. Not beginner friendly for the rest of the family. There are other spots to launch from and I use a boat sometimes to go to other spots.

I'm just wondering if anyone involved with schools or who uses one of their own for carrying people and gear can suggest which have the best cargo space. I don't care too much about high horsepower and selling points like that, I'm only considering one as a "utility vehicle". The 14' aluminum boat we have with the outboard rides rough in chop and catches so much wind you could not really manoeuvre or provide much support from the boat.

Thanks,
Peter

None have much space. Heres a thought. Tow a raft behind loaded with gear. I large inflatable tube works great.

Yamaha used to make a jet ski called the SUV. It had a huge space for a cooler and storage up front and a trunk on both sides in the back for more gear and could carry upto 4 people but was better with 3 or less. When I used to use one for lessons, I could fit 2 boards and harnesses in 1 side and 3 kites in the otherside with a cooler and pumps and stuff up front. You can find them for sale from time to time. Check EBay.

Towing a raft is an option, but one I'd like to avoid if I can.

I have since read that there is a Kawasaki that has "60 gallons" of cargo space, but not sure of shape/size. On the sound in Hatteras you see skis with lessons heading out or back with no gear visible, not even a backpack, so some must have at least rom for a kite. I assume the board is on edge next to the seat.

Anyone who's down in Hatteras and by the Real shop, let me know what they have moored there. I assume they have done their homework and have ones that haul stuff well. Or maybe some can carry 2 kites but they only ever take out one kite for a lesson(?)

Thx,
Peter

Wow, thanks that SUV looks big, but I'm not seeing any in my area. Probably heavy too I bet if you beach it too high. Looks like they're from 2000ish. I'll look out for one like that, but let me know of any other suggestions.

I would recommend you get a rescue sled for your jet ski, really good for kitesurfing and you can load some gear on it as long as you don't mind it getting wet.

You might consider a Seadoo wake edition. The board racks will really help assuming you are carrying twintips. I go out on my 04 GTX 4-tec and it has plenty of room in the front for kites, bars, and a pump, but dealing with the board without the racks is sometimes a pain.
