I have been on edges since 2008 riding over 200 days a year on extremely rough "beach" and have not had one problem with anything. Kites are fragile treat them like tissue paper.
Great photos and write up on the new kite Rick!

Thank you guys! The good thing about GoPros is I just turn on the time lapse shutter mode and let it rip on auto. I never quite know what will come out of the shoot until I have a look on the computer.

really really cool pictures! I must admit, the quality of my pics taken with the Hero 3 white is soooo much worse...

Thank you! There are some hero three shots in the write up. The cameras do like a lot of light So if all else fails make sure you have good illumination.

A frame grab from video about 40 minutes after sunset. I was surprised to see a useable image at this point. Lucked out with a nice colorful sunset.
Isn't this when the sharks come out to snack on drunken water waders...

You will see more dorsals at sunset and the conventional wisdom follows, if not actual accident statistics? You don't need to wait until twilight for big tiburons here though. Check this out ...

I got out for a late session today in some unforecast wind minutes before sunset. The wind was around 14 kts. powering the 13 m up well even enough for a few jumps.

I wanted to catch the process of solo landing totally or "Stage 2" depowering the kite. This is done in emergencies or at time of landing by simply pushing the Stage 2 Quick Release outward (the red cylindrical thing just above the chicken loop).

and here's the video ... I was quite impressed with the ease of the process. Check it out below.

It has been about seven years since I totally depowered traditional "C-kites" in this fashion. Only in that case they would often spin or fly up with more power than evident in this landing. I need to try some of the old landing techniques and see if they fit with this new technology.

Good winds!

I threw my QR on my 10m 2011 XB recently... kite when straight down onto the water in the U position, and while I was hauling in the bar, it flipped over into the on-the-beach position.

So I'm failing to see how double-front lines are "worse" than singles... especially after seeing that video :(

The above was in 20-30 knots... not 14 :)
