Boracay getting hit by big typhoon, 7m Tsunami forecasted

Postby Toby » Thu Nov 07, 2013 1:24 pm

Just heard a shocking info from friends on Boracay, Philippines!

A huge typhoon is moving towards the beautiful, little island Boracay.

Been there many times and always enjoying it, I hope it will not get too hard.

On Bulabog beach, where all the kiting is during the main wind season from Nov to April, all houses have been evacuated and sealed with wood.

A 7m tsunami will just flood the whole island in this part, being pretty narrow and on ocean level more or less.

If such tsunami hits, I assume all palm trees will be gone and lots of damage.
Will there be any beach anymore? Already pretty small and gone on high tide...

I will try to get updates and add pictures once I receive them. They assume to be cut off from electricity for a while...so not sure when we will get reports and pictures/videos.

Good luck to everyone on the island, wishing you the minimum damage possible!!!

We are with you!

(this sits higher on a hill, so if electricity is still on we could see the Tsunami hitting)

Something popped up in my FB feed that it could be THE worst storm ever - they're getting winds of 300km/h... time for a 7m kite eh Toby?

Good luck down there! :thumb:

I've experienced 150km/h wind (locked up in a concrete building, peeking out of windows) and it was no joke. Wish all the best to you and your beach...

This video was shot earlier today in Tacloban.

As bad as it looks, I don't think this was in maximum winds for this storm. Best of luck to all involved throughout the Philippines and beyond in getting through this monster and in recovery.

Was chatting last night on fbook to one of the lads who worked at the orchids resort where i stayed last year, bit of a language barrier and i could'nt establish if they had been evacuated or not but he said they were all safe. Anyone heard anymore?
