Was out on my Naish skater Thruster yesterday for first time. Felt like the board was really tracky and like the middle fin for sure slowed me down. Maybe I am just used to my skim and need to get used to a surfboard?
I had my feet near middle of board and when lit more towards back.
A quad or twin fin board makes the board way looser? What are the negatives? Might switch to a quad if anyone wants to buy my 2012 5' 9. Let me know.
I assume I could take out the back fin of my thruster and it would be way looser and faster, would it still catch waves though?

I often ride mine twin. You can also experiment other fins. Even getting a set of cheapo plastic fin will loosen it up.
On the 2012 I think the front foot should be further back than what is normal because of the nose. Experiment with foot placement...my front foot ended up on top of the backmost holes of the front foot insert.

Cool I will try that next session ^. Yeah I was like WTF why am I going so slow. Beautiful looking board though and caught one real good wave and felt the oomph. Hopefully it will shred as a twin.

Got a Dialer with quad fins and a Coupe that is a twin fin.
The Coupe has just as much grip, but is more turny for sure.
The Dialer goes upwind better but I believe that probably has more to do with the board size/shape than the difference in fin configuration.

I would have to agree that tail shape is a larger factor. A squash tail will slide out more than a pin tail that tracks.

ARE there any twin fin kitesurfboards ? I havent seen any... (but I dont see everything)
Or do you mean quad and thruster boards that works well with a twin fin setup ?

The 2011 Slingshot Coupe 6' 0" is a twin fin.

Indeed it is, true - thanks.
But only the 2011 model it seems, so not any present today ?
It is a "true" twin fin it seems, with fins positioned correct.
If you took a quad or a thruster and only used the front fins, it would typically be "off" too forward, and not balanced like it should, I think

I have a 2013 4'8" Naish Skater for travel that is twin fin.
Loose and snappy but it takes a little bit of work to get upwind on.
I does fit into my golf bag,but tight.
