Can someone explain how the 5th line makes relaunching easier. I keep hearing this claim but have not seen a good description why, and how to do.

if u pull the fifth line the kite rolls on it's back but right before the kite rolls all the way over tug a rear line. this same technique can be done in a four line kite if you tug the center line opposite the rear line. on an sle kite it doesn't matter much but on a c kite it's convenient because the fifth line technique tends to relaunch you faster than pulling a center line.

so yeah it works but its not a good reason to buy a five line kite. you buy a five line kite because that particular kite is what you like how Toby likes the dyno.

I will have to work on this. If it makes a 0ne or two knot difference in getting airborne it would really be nice to know this technique. Nothing worse than not being able to get your kite airborne when you know there is enough wind to ride.

It could make a one or two knot difference, might help if you are temporarily stuck in a partially shadowed spot. With the Rebel relaunch is easy in twintip winds, but if you're riding light wind with a freerace board it could be a problem. As EDT said tug that rear line before it rolls all the way over or you may end up with a line wrap. DAMHIKT...
