Hi

I had a 2 hour's session on the 2014 12m Evo today.
Wind speed was between 20 and 27 knots.
The Evo not only looks similar to the Fuse, but it also flies much more similar like the Fuse compare to the 2013 Evo.
The bar pressure is slightly higher than the Fuse. I only kited the Evo on the middle setting. There are now 3 settings where you can attach your flying lines, so if you attach it to the last setting, it might be a tad lighter. The Evo doesn't have those bungies on the wing tips anymore.
The struts of the Evo are a fair bit closer to the wing tip and there is now only one of these supporting sticks attached to the canopy on each side.
The shape of the canopy is almost the same (I stack both kites on top of each other).
Hangtime of the Evo is a bit less than the Fuse.
If you want to get the best boosting kite, get a Fuse quickly before they are selling out. Most stores have them on sale for 30% less than the RRP.
I'm not sure what North's marketing/sale strategy is, but the Fuse boosts a tad bigger and longer, has less bar pressure, the turning speed is the same and except the new big valve there is not much of difference between those two kites.

Below are a few pics. The kite on top is the Evo.

Cheers

Hi mate,

Guests staying here brought them from overseas.
You better come back soon and check them out yourself. I might have another session tomorrow (but to be honest I like the Fuses more).

Cheers

Caesar next time you have the Evo out try the light bar setting.
A bit disappointing if it lacks the boost/hang time of the Fuse.
Look forward to your next review.

Ooh goody.

Did you unhook it ceasar? Get any slack in the lines? Can you get in some waves. Just because it doesn't boost as good, it may have some potential in other areas than the fuse doesn't.What's the power delivery like?

Ours will be here soon I think, will also be putting it through its paces in some other areas and comparing it with my time on the rebel (and the fuse, but only a handful of rides) and the dice I'm on now.

Should be interesting.

But yes I can see why if you wanted a 4 line boostting hooked in freeride kite like the fuse you may be a little dissappointed it seems.

Hey which is which in the photo? I'm assuming the evo is on top ??

I can't unhook that 12m beast in 25knots. As I mentioned it is very similar to the Fuse and also behaves very similar. It is slower than the previous Evos (but that might change a little bit on the light setting).

The Evo is on top of the Fuse on those photos.

Well if you are right Caesar, and it doesn't afford unhooking, any decent wave riding hence flies similar to the fuse and yet does not boost or hang as much, I'd say you are spot on.

What's the damn point of this kite? Better of developing the fuse even further. Weird.

My hope is it would sit between the dice and the rebel. Sounds like they have gone to far to the fuse side and really made a shit fuse.

We will see, ta mate.

Well, as I said I only tried the default center setting. But I doubt it will be *much of a difference* to switch to the lighter/faster setting.

I would say no it won't. Just lighter bar pressure and a bit quicker to turn, and I predict the hang time will actually be reduced as the kite will fly further overhead...that's been my experience in all kites just changing at the kite end.

Interesting to see if my Vegas has more hangtime changing to middle speed? Westozzy? I currently have it on fastest setting will try a session soon on the middle. Jumps great how it is.
