Do you want a kite for waves ?

Or a kite for jumping ?

They are completely opposite...

So you have to get one somewhere in between maybe, which is equally bad at both

If you are average weight, you should go for a 5m2 in 30 knots, and a 4m2 in 35 knots.

As it seems you are not that much into waves, when you say "jumping" too, I think you should go for a powerful 5m2 (IF you are average weight that is...).

Would be better to list what you "like" and have easy access to at local shops, then I think others can advice whether it is a good wave or a good jump kite - or equally bad at both as said :naughty:

Of course I am joking a bit, by saying "equally bad", as you can also say "equally good", eventhough it WILL always be "equally mediocre" of course :thumb:

Thanks Peter for your advice.

There are no kite suppliers about this part.
I fly Cabrinha Switchblade 8 most of the time 10 some time.
If I had to pick I would say a
Wave kite.
something which turns fast and can get me out of trouble fast.
which is fast / easy to relaunch.
A kite I can trust in large waves.

Im 107 kg

Thanks for your help

That jumps okay...and a proper wave kite...yeh they can be mutually exclusive to some degree.

If you want to be able to really kill the power on a SB and still want to jump with some wind in it I'd look into the Airush wave, although the 2013 smaller kites were not as good as the 9m and apparently that has been sorted in 2014.

Consider the wainmens here, but again it is more in the all rounder category.

Some are saying the drifter can give you some jumping potential, look into this.

The dice (but 2014) affords some jumping potential as well.

The new REO is a better jumper this year but again 2014.

Depends on what type of jumping you want to do as well....

You could also go with a 2013 Cab Drifter 5.5m2 ?

A bit small maybe, as its sweet spot is around 35knots for you, I believe.

But for waveriding, it might fit perfect :D

If above is not your choice, you could also find a 6m2 kite you believe in, as I think that is the right size :thumb:

Have you thought about a Vector? It's shaped more like a Drifter than a switchblade is. It might be the kite that bridges the gap between the Switchblade and Cabrinha's pure surf kite (Drifter) that you want. FYI they're less grunty than the Switchblades.

If you want to stay with Cabs, the Cab Vector and Drifter are almost identical, not really sure what the difference is besides marketing and price. I have both and they look and ride the same. In either case they run pretty small so you would most likely need a 7m which would be similar to a 6m SB. I can run mine close to 35 and I am much lighter than you. They are not the greatest jumpers, but at that speed everything can jump. If you went 5.5 that would be a very big gap from the 8m IMO. They relaunch super easy and turn much faster than the SBs. They are very stable like SBs, do not have the low end grunt. They are very easy comfortable kites. The Vector is a good kite in the small sizes, and there has been some really good internet deals on them.

Get this one. This is unbelievable deal on an onshore wave kite. It sits back in the window it has power, good turns, jumps like crazy and it is an excellent choice for kite loops too all in one kite.

You are going to get many different suggestions with this kind of question. I have wainmans and will likely always own this line of kites. I have a gypsy 6.5 and don't often use it as my smoke 9m is quite nice into the 30's.

The mr green 7.5 would be the one I think. These kite drift great and are very very smooth in strong gusty wind. Jumping is excellent in the upper end of the kites windrange. Not like an edge which jumps well throughout its wind range.

If you want to ride waves, AND jump, in high wind: easy answer, North Rebel 5 or 6m
If jumping is not a priority: North Dice

Try them you'll be amazed. 5m Rebel on a surfboard 25 knots is pure joy.
