When you guys pack the golf bag do you pack the kites inside their "kite bags" just pack the kites naked and compressed? I always take the kites in their respective bags because I worry they could get ripped naked.

I ordered compression bags with my travel bag. They are smaller, lighter, and have cinching straps to compress the kites down a bit more as well. The ones I got also have a small strap so they can be packpack-ish if I need them to be when travelling.

Laughing man - here it is with wheels

I usually pack all of my kites in the zip lick compression bags and then put all compressed kites in my 14m slingshot bag. Once at the destination is use the single kite bag to transport to the beach for the day.

Clamborghini,
The zip lock compression bags work great. thanks for the tip. Just tried them.11m and 13 kites in the 13 m bag. For any others considering them the Large size is just right. How long do you think you can leave the kites in the bags on compression without damage? I am leaving in 3 days and am packed and ready to go but the paranoid man in me worries I may damage the bladders. Maybe I should decompress the kites until the night before I leave.

Anybody ever feel guilty about lying to the baggage check-in guy when he asks you "what's in the bag" and you say "golf clubs"? I think it's the former Catholic in me that makes me pack two golf clubs in the bag along with my kites. The kites and board then just become "padding" for the clubs. Silly, I know. It's just an honest way to be dishonest, but I'm OK with being dishonest since what difference does it make what I'm packing in the bag, as long as the weight and dimensions are the same.
