Has anyone, Flown the Ben Wilson kites and can compare the 2,
Hello
prayfawind27,
I have tried the
Ben Wilson kite and it is totally different kite then the
SURF kite. The
Ben Wilson kite is closer to the
RENEGADE model kite. The
SURF is a kite all of its own made for the surf. But again I hope some one else can respond to your question. Or the best thing will be for you to get a chance to demo the SURF kite.

This is the test result the
SBC KITEBOARD mag did with the
SURF 12m and few other kite brands.
As you can see they said that the SURF 12 is "
a class of its own for light wind wave riding". I guess they tested in light wind (12 to 18 mph).
Can you imagine what will they say once they get a chance to test the
SURF 8 &
5 meter in higher winds!!!
Any way, the best way to find out if the SURF is the perfect kite for you is to get a chance to test it for yourself.
P.S.

Congrats, on a good review
.I wonder why they didn't include the Noise, Ben Wilson was the first to coin the phrase/make ,a wave only and I remember the industry talking crap about how it's not logical to focus on only one aspect of kiting, Now the entire industry is making a wave only kite, So in fact the Noise suppose to the first kite to test against,

I think the RRD religion came out the same year as the Noise.

I owned a full quiver of first generation Noise kites and they were just okay. The steering was sluggish (except the 6m which was a great kite) and had a constant pull. I don't know why they were branded a wave kite as they felt much like a free ride kite. I honest thought the Kahoona's were a better wave kite than the Noise but I haven't used the second generation Noise or the new Pro version of this kite either. The fact that they have ditched the 5 strut design and moved to a delta three strut shows that they are looking to improve off the original design. I agree with what Prayfawind stated in that it would have been nice to see how Ben's kite stacked up against the others!
James
Did the SBC team only test the 12m or did they get a chance to ride the 8? To me the money kites are the 8/5m and how do they stack up against the field?

Hello
soul19. The SBC guys told me they could only test 2 models and it had to be between 11 to 13 meter kites because of the light wind condition they where getting and these were the other sizes they had from other brands. So I chose the
SCREAMER 12 and the
SURF 12 for them to test.
