R U knots .... 20 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay 2 big :nono:
My ride is a specialized LW 19 fast turning / fast looping :pump:
You gonna have to imagine it :cool2: in your mind ....more WA herbs could very well help

No video

6ft glassy sets of lefts from a Cat 1 hurricane 300 miles offshore heading North
Wind of 9-10kn side to side side-on coming from N to NNE
I ride left foot forward heading out & then turn toeside on wave face riding it off the wind backside
It looks great and feels fantastic
Surfers on the water are cheering me on ...they are really happy to see me having so much fun

Since i like to ride in front of my beach i just go back upwind jibing and repeat the circuit

Also i enjoy on that wind direction to ride upwind on those 6 ft faces backside heelside

Imagine that :allbegood:

Id bet while you are out on your 19m blimp I could go in the same spot and wind on a 12 and surfboard.

No you lose.....imagine also a very possible1 knot sideshore current going South with the wind
So now it is 8-9kn of wind

No downwinder doing downloops on a 12 allowed.....you must return back upwind in the line up

I am not surprised that you do not know blimp about LW

A 12m2 needs 12 knots on a surfboard to track back upwind in such conditions in a warm climate

You can't even imagine what 8-9kn is like because you do not ride in that low wind ever

I am definitely using the correct size kite for the conditions

You are welcome to come over and get trashed with your 12...
...you would go nowhere...i am just 5 lbs heavier than you and i would school you for sure

Doubt it. If I cant go on a 12 and a surfboard there is no wind. :kiff:

I edited those pics off of the video so all can see the riding since nobody was watching past the first 10 seconds of video anyway and just kept reposting a screenshot of my face... :nono: The pics show the style I have and that I am for real. Now is the time for everyone else to prove they know what they are doing by posting a pic or video of themselves on a wave kiting... :bye:
Out of curiosity ; do you realize that Ya just waved goodbye , to the owner of the forum ?

Looks like this is indeed one of those threads. Crew giving material to bite on for the antagoniser.

I kept looking at the thread for the animated gifs... they've dried up so that's a bit of a shame :(

Say, isn't it time someone said... where's PMU?

Lol.... I was riding backside this weekend and whilst doing so, thought about this thread.

IMO backside feels forced in comparison to front, having to cut upwind into the waves runs counter to having any snap or flow to the bottom turn. But it is still fun, particularly if that's all there is.

PS I have (attempted) to ride waves with a 20m...... my scariest/most stupid moment on a 20m was a very underpowered session at Elands Bay - I went out and saw what looked like a horrific hold down set that I was never going to get over and managed to turn round and rode double overhead white water into the beach!

But, on the subject of big kites, I have used a 19m on a 6'6 fish and have ridden waves nicely, when even the lightest rider has not been able to get off the beach with a 12m. Big kites have their place, regardless how "unfashionable" they are now.
