Because you can generate 10x more torque to snap off a wave backside...
I am finding backside snaps with a kite are more difficult than front side...I think unhooking backside is my solution...

Who cares what it looks like as long as your having fun. The guy with the biggest grin on the beach wins. If your constantly consumed with what others think then you don't understand how to live.

Unhooking I would respect more. Yes I. You will be happier unhooking and riding frontside though. Maybe not at first you will find it difficult then you will if you stick with it long enough.

The reason riding waves frontside looks better is because it's more fun. If you don't get that then you don't know how to ride waves properly. Riding backside or going up the line is not real wave riding.

But your lying. Sounds like you need to learn to ride switch.
Even when regular surfing which is easier than kite surfing since there is no kite to get in the way a backside turn is weaker than frontside.

There can be advantages to both styles/sides, indeed, especially if you mix it up a bit it becomes really good - but if you only ride one side ALWAYS, especially if backside of course, it is not good IMO, and you wont get as much fun out of it, and will also limit yourself by a huge margin (and it looks like shit too, agree - but some dont care what it looks like, so a personal thing...)
I know we can never ever agree on this, but nice to see that I am not alone with this opinon (as I almost thought before you posted)
