Supa: how do you ride waves on the east coast when all you have is light wind? You aren't even wave riding when you are using a kite bigger than a 9.

Why don't more kiters learn to ride switch?

Your first post is incomplete
You forgot .................Writing left handed looks like s**t
Why don't more left handers learn to write switch ?

How do you practice your switch wave riding ?
Do you alternate left hand right hand when wiping your backside s**t to become symmetrical ?

Are you so special....that you have 2 dominant eyes ?

So glad I don't live on the shitty east coast like you. No wonder you don't get it. It takes real wind and waves to properly kite surf... not that light wind and little ankle slappers you ride out east. The most mediocre onshore wind wave riding day in WA still tops the best day on the east coast.

this is something I never got it

if the point is to surf using wave power why looking for high wind / small, fast kite conditions?

sounds illogical

Shouldn´t be the other way around?

When kiting in waves the smaller kite the better. Always. You never want to ride a bigger kite than you have to. Even with perfect wind direction you still need to fly the kite to wave ride. Trying to ride waves on 12m and bigger kites ends up not even being wave riding because you can't get the big slow kite where you need it fast enough most times. To make more than one good turn on a wave is very hard to do on a big kite and they suck for down the line riding.

If anyone has aspirations to be a kite surfer, please note that there are a set of requirements...

1. Must only use a certain kind of kite
(absolutely no bigger than 9m & no bridles)

2. Must only be on a certain kind of wave (See WA waves; absolutely no Hawaii or Guincho)

3. Must only use a certain style
(long drawn out turns, bump off white water, unhooked, no straps)

4. Must only use only a certain set of moves
(absolutely no backside!!!; you will be immediately failed and banished in shame)

....Did I miss any....

Please see Bob Marley for details and must receive approvals. Also, please do not claim to be a kite surfer unless you meet all required conditions to support your claims....

Edit: Please note that you are not having fun unless you meet the above. Please resist the "fun" feeling if you do not meet all of the above.

Stupid. On your big kite all you are doing is hitting the wave and riding away. I see this all the time with guys who put up a 12m kite when they could be on a 7. That's not wave riding. Neither is riding upwind on a wave.

....tubular waves are out. Do not be tempted to enter a barrel...avoid at all cost. And being deeper in the barrel will only get you in more trouble. Deep in double overhead barrels will get you banish from the Kite surf community.

Please be careful of your status in the kite surf community...
