Kitesurfing in Rivera Maya March-May

Postby LeahBali2 » Sun Jan 12, 2014 1:11 pm

Hi Guys! I'm planning on going kitesurfing in the Rivera Maya (Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Bocapaila) on the dates of March till May. I know the strong wind season is around Novemeber, but could you recommend me if these dates are any good, and where are the best spots?
Thanks! looking forward to your responses

March - May usually has much better winds than November. November is at the end of the rainy season and has fickle winds. End of May is the end of the windy dry season. The areas you mention need east, southeast or east-southeast winds. Anything from the north is off-shore. The time you mention is the most consistent for the desired winds. If the winds aren't favorable for the Riviera Maya, try Isla Blanca just north of Cancun, kite-able with winds from any direction, or Isla Holbox. Then there is Progreso and.... :D
