What about light wind boards? Calling the Average Joes...

Postby andrewb44 » Sat Jan 25, 2014 9:01 pm

The Average Joes did a great job of a seemingly unbiased comparative light wind kite review. VERY rare to find a real life unbiased comparative review in the kite surf world.

What about light wind boards? I think that the boards are probably as important as kites in light winds and yet I've seen very little discussion on them.

Reviews please...calling the Average Joes

Wow, this really made me smile. This was actually my next thought. Any suggestions on what boards to test out? This may not be as easy to pull together. Boards we already have.,,

Gotta put a free-race or at least couple of directionals in there

Are we talking twin tips only or can we add say the 154 Sector. Light wind riding is okay with a twin tip but is actually fun with a directional....

Perhaps consider adding Slingshot Glide and Shinn King George to the list. I am interest to see you're listing the OR Origin in the list as it's not really marketed as a light wind board. Perhaps the test should be split into Directionals and Twin Tips.

Also the Flysurfer Flydoor.

I just purchased (used) a v3, 160x44, and I'm very happy with it. No idea about the latest version (v4) though.

I spent the night thinking about it. There are so many boards, this could be a very expensive test, something we may not be able to do just yet. Plus boards are way more subjective to size and riding style of the rider.

I can tell you that almost every one of my local riders has a Spleene door in some size or year model. I have never really liked the ride of the wing, but many bigger riders do like them.

We have had the fly doors out here, and with the center heal side fin it takes a little bit of time to get used to the ride, but that has performed well also.

I think as I get boards we will do short individual reviews.
