Naish Bolt inverts suddenly :(

Hi all. I've been using a Naish Bolt 12m for almost 2 years and I have allways been annoyed about it suddenly drops out of the sky and inverts... Often in light winds, but also maxed pumped up and in 25knots... Any suggestions?

If the wind has a chance of luls below 12 knots don't use a Bolt. I wouldn't even own one bigger than a 9m.

hmm, curious. It drops out of the sky in high winds?
I mean I can see it happening if the wind is too light to fly any kite, but in high winds sounds odd.

To me this is one of the most stable kites ever made, and I never had it happen on mine unless the wind was too light to even fly a kite.

I'm not saying it didn't happen to you, but I do think it is possible to avoid it. Here are a few generic tricks for flying kites in light wind:
keep the kite moving. Never leave it at 12. Ever. The Bolt zigzag makes it sit deeper which is why I find it a bit curious, but if it surges at 12 then turn the kite. The idea is to keep a bit of pressure on the lines. :-)

When you say invert..does it invert in the air? Or because it rolls after falling? Again if you keep the lines tight it will not roll. If it overflies at the top of the window try to keep the kite a bit lower. :-)

Slappy: I had the 16 it was great for light wind racing.

It inverts in the air yes, just drops out of the sky. I rarely keep it static at 12 and I'm always keeping it in motion in light winds. Also if it's not pumped rock solid it inverts often which is only my fault.
However, some of the inverts just happens without any explanation, it just drops out of the sky

Any tips how to fix an inverted kite if you are on your own?
So far I've always had a good friend who could help me :P

That sounds like something is wrong. I've never even heard of that.
Is the bridle okay? Check for the small labels on it to see you have the right one.

All I can say pump it up. Do you measure it? PSI? I'd say 7-8 psi..but at least 6.

I've ridden a lot of bolts..from size 16, to 7. I also have a 5...and the 9 has been one of my all time favorites. I've never had any issues like that. I had the 16 roll once, but that wasn't an issue.

Now to uninvert...the idea is to turn the kite so you'll have to pull on the back line. If the wind is nuclear you have to be really careful..actually I don't really recommend doing it, but put the kite on the water, pull on one backline..you do not want to get anything caught here...then once it is far enough back try to pull both front lines.

If the wind is strong I would not do this. Then I would go back to the beach to land fix and then get back. For light wind try the light wind relaunch system.

ok first of all what you think "inverted" is?

to most of us here, an inverted kite is when the kite is inside out, the lettering on the back is on the inside, the wind has pushed it all the way inside out and if it remains like this it is likely to get split in two. To fix this, pull the quick release and wait for the kite to turn inside right again. After it looks good, do a standard relaunch after quick release.

a "line inversion" is something else entirely. When lines invert that means the kite falls down out of the sky and thru it's own lines. This does not affect the ability of the kite to fly just go back to the launch when you get a chance. some people fix this on the water by taking off the leash and passing the bar thru the lines.

The cause of line inversion is gusty wind, no big deal.

Kite inversions usually happen when a kite gets caught in the surf flips around the wrong way and relaunches itself. It usually doesn't happen just because the wind is gusty and it falls down.

If your kite is flipping inside out all the time it sounds somewhat strange, it shouldn't do that but I don't fly the bolt.

agggg. good point.

it would need severely slack lines to start tumbling on the water. I am not even sure how you could get the bolt to fall forward.

If the lines ae super slack pretty much any kite can tumble.

OP:
There are ways of undoing inverted lines in the water, but again not recommended. Easier when the wind is light.

Thanks guys! Hopefully last weekend was the last "fall out of the sky trough the middle lines" from my Bolt :P
