Now that was an enjoyable report on a lightwind session I am stuck in Albuquerque this week, so its good to hear of someone else living the dream.

Now if we can will some speedy Fedex and good winds to the Redneck Riviera, we will get to hear some more light wind reports.

My beach faces directly East 90 deg...wind was coming from E 100..and only at 5-6kn..waves 3ft

Since it was low tide i decided to use my Terraboard landboard to just go cruising and slide around

My plan was to ride using the 19 until i would start to get too powered up on it then go in the water

Well it happened...as the sun went down ..wind pick up a bit..i was then fully trimmed and bar all out

Wind had reached 9-10kn and wind angle had gone to ESE 120 ...so i switched to water mode

Rode the Nug in the waves til sunset.....and there was plenty of wind power to do transition jumps

Great fun... 2 for 1 special afternoon delight session

Got out yesterday a bit, wind was a bit gusty but rideable, even with the very dense fog that rolled in.

I got out on the Epic for another spin. Will have a quick report on that soon. I'm sending Roger to the beach to get some time in on it too.

I lost one of my shop guys, so it may be hard to get the video I want as someone has to keep the lantern burning. But what we are finding was our initial test was pretty accurate. More to come. Also hopefully should have a Cloud 17m in sometime this week and the new Crazyfly 17m to test also.

I plan on breaking up the videos into single kite reviews, easier for guys to research as its hard to get a day with wind and a bunch of guys to test them all in the same day. We just got very lucky the day we had.

Is the Cloud a C1 or C2?
The C2 is the new lighter design and replaces the C1 (which was already very light). I have read the C1 quoted as 3.2 kg before Greg's bridle mod and the mod reduces that by 0.18kg. So I would expect the C2 is below 3kg for the 17m.
Either way, the results of the test will be very interesting

Great - its a kite that should be in any light wind test.

Will be interesting to see what you have to say about the Cloud. I have always viewed the Epic Infinity as a specialist light wind kite specifically targeted at people looking to practice freestyle in 9 to 11 knots (like the fat lady), so it doesnt surprise me you were not too keen on it in your test which looks at regular kitesurfers and what they would want from a lightwind kite.

I am very excited to hear about the results of the Cloud in this test! It definitely seems to be the most controversial LW kite out there right now, I have heard it is a terrible kite that won't fly on par with how it is the best thing since sliced bread.

I am debating between the 14.5m Cloud C2 or Flite to get me going on my skimboard in the lightest stuff possible this spring.

My theory on the 17m Cloud is similar to others' opinions on the Infinity and Fat Lady, I think it is a LW kite built for a specific purpose - in this case riding strapless. Could be a reason for the polarized reviews.

Perhaps the Cloud's low end may not stack up against the high AR kites while using a twin tip, however, I wonder if the depower and light weight of the kite may make it superior to the others if ridden on a big skimboard without fins or straps. I was considering the kite as my local wind is not only light but also gusty, which requires a kite to float through the lulls and depower quickly in gusts if your weapon of choice is strapless.

Do you have any riders who ride without straps? It may do a better justice to the Cloud's intended use to compare its performance with a surfboard or skim with low rocker in addition to a twin tip comparison. Likewise, somebody who unhooks and throws down in 11kts might provide a better basis for comparison for the low/med AR LW kites.
