Core Bar...How do they do it?

Postby The Captain » Mon Jan 27, 2014 11:09 pm

So, I have been wondering how Core kites are designed differently so that they can get away with one bar size? Or, as yo go from 5m to 19m, do you wish you had something smaller/bigger at times?

Bar at it's widest is 52 cm (20.5 in.)...at it's narrowest 44 cm (17.25 in)

I personally ride the XR3 19 exclusively on 52cm bar with 24 m lines

If you know what you are doing and the kite is tuned that bar small bar will loop that 19 super Ez

The secret.......is in the kite shape/ bridle ... plus the way bar ends are designed....i believe

Pretty amazing that Sensor bar...it has a very nice narrow grip....and soooooo light weight

For those who like to unhook you can get a larger size chicken loop...and longer leash

I stay hooked so i really like Core's short leash

I'm pretty sure the core sensor bar has a width adjustment of a few inches, not unlike many modern bars, I use the same bar from 5m to the Infinity (I think its 17m) no problem provided I adjust where the steering lines attach to the bar.

Yes .......3 1/4 inches..... of width adjustment...... for the Sensor

That is the million dollar question....is the Infinity a 17m ????????????????

How wide is the Epic bar that you use .....cm...inches...at widest...and narrowest setting

We have a small hole at both end of the bar in wich a small rope is passed trough (one knot on each side of the rope makes it stay in there).
we slide the floater up and we can disasemble this small rope, slide it trough the hole (the rope has one knot on each end so you slide it on the other side) and retie your line on the other side of the hole.

that makes a bit more than 1.5 inch on each sides

The conenction to the know is a loop just like your kite attachment. After the adjustment you just slide your floater back down and you're ready.

Personally. i ride my two smaller kites (6 and 9) on one bar adjusted to the shortest and i have another bar for by 13.5M wich is adjusted to the longer setting.

Core recommand using the large setting for more than 9M and the short setting for less than 9M, with 9M you can choose whatever you like.

Honestly, even on smaller kite the longer setting works, it turns more for the same input force ( ;) )

Widest 52cm less Narrowest 44cm = 8cm divided by 2 = 4cm per side divided by 2.54 = 1.57 inch

Actually 1 1/2 inch per side of adjustment

Thank you for nice photos :thumb:

I use one bar from for all my lei's13m to 6m.
50cm bar.

I don't see the need to run smaller bars for smaller kites. As the kites get smaller then they turn faster. who cares? just adapt to a faster flying kite!... easy peasy.

Stick your hands in the middle if need be. or fly it one handed 2 fingers either side of the depower rope.

Similarly bigger kites turn slow.... just adapt to a slower turning kite...
