GoPro fogging - this is ridiculous!

Postby Toby » Sun Feb 02, 2014 4:10 am

I have 3 of those anti fogging stripes in, someone in shallow water filming, and it fogs.
And if it gets just a drop of water on the lens, it fogs even more.

This can't be it. In 2014 with its technology, why is there no solution for it?
GoPro makes tons of moneys, why not invest some in research?

You name me a good quality filming camera that does not fog in its water case and GoPro will be history for me.

Anyone?

Why don't they make a bigger case so some more air can be available? If it is 30% bigger it won't be in the way anyway...

Sad, and angry to get my cool tricks f****** up by this expensive non working BS !!! :angryfire:

You should give Garmin Virb Elite a try. No case, no fogging.

The video quality is better than any thing Vimeo or Youtube will allow., it has Wide Angle and Zoom just like the Gopro with a lot more. The best that I found is a 3 hour battery, Water proof without a case, color view finder, GPS built in. The only downside that I found was the slightly larger size and weight.

Nothing that is water proof to IPX7 will last long when kiteboarding, it will die sooner or later!

Although you may not go deeper than the specified 1m, the problem is when you crash it puts pressure on the seals which is far greater than 1m deep water;)

from garmins website:
Optional Dive Case
VIRB is rugged and waterproof to (IPX7) right out of the box meaning the device will withstand incidental exposure to water of up to 1 meter in depth for up to 30 minutes. For all activities that involve water immersion, the optional Dive Case is required. The Dive Case increases the waterproof rating to 50 meters and features a flat front lens for clear underwater imaging.

Would have something to do with the climate and then water temperature you are kiting in?

The quality of the video is much better than what Vimeo allows. I had to compress and reduce file size to fit Vimeo requirement, the altimeter was never calibrated, because I don't jump due to knee problems. For the same price as Gopro, you will get almost double the battery size, GPS, accelerometer, color view finder and No fogging.

Here is a video using GoPro, the lens was always sticking with water droplets.
