Hard to say, but there are three things that comes to my mind, if you fall backwards BEFORE you are on the new tack:

Maybe you fly the kite overhead too early ?
You have to lean against the lines, while you turn the board up through the wind.

Maybe you only push with your rear foot ?
You have to pull with your front foot - very important as the big fins wont allow you to turn the board so your rear foot can not push it around, but the front foot can easily pull it around.

Maybe you are too slow ?
You have to make the upwind turn and kite direction change and jump around quite fast, and in one fluid motion.

Just some basic ideas that might be worth thinking about - hope this can help you ?

If you fall backwards AFTER the tack, it is most likely because you fly the kite around TOO LATE, so it wont have speed and tight lines :naughty:
Also, when underpowered, the tack is MUCH more difficult to make, as you wont be "weightless" the same way, and your timing has to be perfect - so practice when quite powered first, as much easier :D

PS: Forgot to mention the last scenario (you did not mention yourself WHEN you fall backwards), where you fall backwards towards the end of the board ?

As the Sector is relatively small, you should go upwind, jump around, and land with the front foot just ahead of the front strap (or on side of it) - waaaay easier and safer :thumb:

If you try to jump around behind the front straps, you will often fall :o

On bigger boards, it is easier "behind" the straps - og trying to land straight into the front straps also.

But on freeride raceboards, as well as waveboards - you land with your front foot just ahead of the front strap - as this is by far the best way to avoid the tail from sinking, when you have no pull nor speed yet :naughty:

I just realised, that some might think that you should always land behind/between the straps, and that might be your problem ?

When you get really good, you might be able to do it behind the straps too, or even make a duck tack (roll tack).
But land in front of the strap for starters, or if tired or low winds :D

Thank-you Peter! Falling after the tack so kite is late & winds have been light & landing with my foot behind the new front strap. 3 strikes & i'm out!!!
Hope for more wind this weekend & i will finally get it now :)

So i have been attempting roll tack - crossing board facing forward ( tack from right hand fwd to left hand fwd) my body rotating clockwise). Is it easier to tack crossing facing backwards?

Way easier and safer facing backwards.

Even if you miss a normal tack (facing backwards), you are often ready to water start fast and easy, compared to a missed roll tack.
