If there's an Ozone dealer in Japan, can I get a demo up here? ;)

I pretty much gave up on listening to wind range claims a long time ago... even assuming people are being 100% honest, the difference in wind meters is pretty horrendous not to mention local conditions. Have a grain of salt ready and don't get upset when people disagree.
Yes call Fumiya san at 090-8840-8609 Speaks English and supper nice guy x-fly.com I believe he'll let you know when and where to try. BTW the in the video he is not turning it fast but it is quick much quicker than S319 LTD similar to my ozone edge 17m Keep in mind the wind is very light. No idea how it compares to the new Speed Lotus maybe similar in turning speed I guess.
Cool, cheers!

If the scale commonly used by kiters is the wind meter held up on the beach, well, that is the common metric kiters use.
Ahh, but it's not.
After all few of us even have an anemometer. I don't.
Shame if that fellow thought a quibble of a 2 knots difference is a reason to delete the review.

Good report Okinawa. I plan to test the 18 Chrono against my Speed 4 21 soon. Should be fun. Like the Zipper on back. I never had a problem withe the zipper on my other Speeds.

Okinawa Kiter wrote:I can understand your confusion. On a large race board I think it's possible but can't compare the two. I would keep your contra and use it maybe with a bigger board. No idea about the low end of the speed 4 21m but think you can't go wrong with either. I would say from what I see the flysurfer would last you longer and more durable but you won't jump as high if all things being equal. It would be a coin toss for me. Only thing is maybe the 18 Chono turns faster and jumps higher. Maybe. All I can say is I am very happy with my purchase of the 18m Chrono and never flew anything like it ever. I also baby my foil kites so will not be crashing it into the water much.
Okinawa Kiter, Good honest review :thumb:
I understand your frustration and I went through the same the way you're going through. :jump:
In light wind under 10 knots it is really difficult to get the accuracy of motive pulling power factor,
how lo can you go in humid, dry or cold weather environment with lapse rate observation :?:
Just saying, because I used to fly hangliders and the last one is an important factor IMHO.
Besides that when I compare the my wind reading against others usually they're Off at least 1 - 2 knots
That's why I've been using the Davis WindScribe ultrasonic wind meter for 6 years
which uses ultrasonic sensor technology and No Moving parts to cut the BS for high accuracy :!:

Full report later,

First impressions are like this;

It pissed all over the Flysurfer speed 4 in terms of low end and hangtime.

Will report later on everything else.

Thanks Tone! Comparison tests are best.

Could you get a picture of the two kites laid on top of eachother to compare the shape and actual area?

The same way a 12m Flysurfer pisses all over a 12m C kite?

I am just saying it is not surprising. It has a bigger projected area and a higher aspect, more efficient airfoil.

Nobody is mentioning anything about stability in unsteady conditions, yet...A big issue Flysurfer has improved upon over the years, at the expense of a higher aspect ratio more efficient airfoil, making the flysurfer kites more user friendly.

I would be stoked to pick up a Chrono (like you sound, Tone), but I have concerns. My Flysurfers can still be a bit of a handful at some of my spots. I don't always have clean ocean winds...

I don't think Ozone intended there Chrono, to be used by the --"Average"-- kiter ; so
that's not really a fair comparison ! It's like saying a person should be using a Moped
instead of a 1000cc crotch-rocket , because it's more user friendly .
