Looks like they changed the shape of the Nugget this year quite a lot. Should turn a lot sharper with the tapered rear. Anyone ride it yet? Did they sacrifice any light wind performance with the changes?

IMO they switched from the Sweet Potato shape to the Baked Potato shape...
http://www.firewiresurfboards.com/surfb ... ked_potato
The Baked Potato supposedly has the same deep double concave bottom shape. Which I can confirm since I held de the Nugget 2012 next to the 2014. The rails seemed to be thinner too which would correspond with the Sweet Potato/Baked Potato difference too. Better rail2rail would be the outcome. Anyway, I have ridden the 2012 enough to find out the difference with the 2014, as soon as I have time and there is wind to try the 2014..

They have changed the Outline. All that Beautiful width all the way to the tail has been trimmed off. I can GTEE you it will NOT glide through the turns like this years Nugget nor plane as quick. Especially if you are in the Clydesdale div.

Have they beefed up the construction? I've noticed many postings about heel dents and other deck failures.
My 2012 Whip is heavy and tough as nails... I just re-glassed heel dents under the front pad after A LOT of really heavy use and abuse... could not ask more from the construction. Now it looks and rides as new.
When North started advertising flex in their 2013 bamboo boards... I was not surprised that they started breaking.

The guy I bought my 2013 nugget from has the new 5'2'' and ridden it. He reckons more performance orientated, not as lightwind bias as old. I like the old because of that. He was unsure at first, but now loves it. Oh, and it's very shiny, but on the darker side colour wise, so good luck finding that in uk waters. Front traction pad and footstraps are optional extras now. Can see the footstraps as an option, but front traction pad? Still, price has not gone up I suppose.

The 2013 norths, white, with bamboo, were beefed up. The 2012 were bamboo colour, and lighter. The 2011 were also heavier than 2012. Think you might have a 2011? Heel dents can cause delamination from foam, which then makes it weaker. How many problems with the bamboo boards were there ? ( I have the lighter bamboo whip !)

Mmmm. At first glance, still in packet, they looked like the yellow ones from last year ? Mebbe they are going to use those up first.
