Need Help! New to kiteboarding

Postby KyletheKiteman » Mon Mar 17, 2014 4:40 pm

Hello everyone, I just bought a Naish C kite and a wipikia bar/lines and there is only two lines. Is there anyway to make this work with a 4 line c kite?

Yes, call your local kite school and they will be able to inspect what you have and give you the best advice during your lessons.

Really depends on what naish c kite, some of the early ones were 4 line 2 line convertable. But as a beginner you don't want to go anywhere near earlier c kites. You'll have a lot more fun if you spend the money to get a easy to use kite you'll have so much more fun

Okay thanks, And why should I stay away from c kites? It has a spot to add a 5th line.

Take it from a former "troll" about 18 months ago....

Buy a kite made after 2012 model year and after. Seems to me the stuff that was made that year and certainly after shifted gears with ease of use, increased wind ranges, and most importantly, the bars/line systems from a safety and easy of use perspective. (2010+ may be OK also, but will let someone else comment as I have not researched gear and bars from those years).

Also seems to me that C kites are prob not good for beginners. At least, from what Ive read and researched. I learned on a 2013 Cab Switchblade.

I'd see if you can return the kite and bar. Where did you get it from and how much?

C-kites are difficult to relaunch.
C-kites have less depower.
C-kites are great for the right rider these days, but not beginners.

Can it be done? Sure, but it would be like skiing a modern slalom ski race course on old 205 cm straight slalom skis instead of modern SL skis.

Spend a little more on a good high depower modern kite after 2010 or so and you should be OK.

I sell kites myself, but if you want to just use me for advice, I'd be glad to give feedback if you find some other kites. I have some myself at reasonable prices, but not sure if will fit your budget

Thanks for the help everyone! I have decided that I will save up for a newer kite. The Naish Kite I bought has a 5th line depower and what not. Right when I got it I was showing the family and somehow it hit the candle and burnt a quarter sized hole in the wing but was easily patched and no big deal but surely made me mad haha. And I did buy a recon bar and lines thats more modern and alot more safe.

yea….that recon bar is good, but not the best.

I have a few brand new 2 line bars on sale for $659.00. Add $249 for 2 lines and $125 for a fixed loop harness line. No safety release, no depower.

Forget the 4 line stuff….2 line is what real men ride.

Good one.
