Name of the kite with huge depower ?

Postby Peter_Frank » Wed Apr 02, 2014 12:16 am

Hi

For some reason I have forgot the name of the French kite, back in maybe 2001-2 or so, that was made from clear mylar, with stiff battens, and almost flat outline.

I think it was from the l'orient region ?

I have flown it myself, but it was not a huge success unfortunately :(

The idea though, was excellent, as it would have almost indefinite depower - only the drag from the camber when depowered, and nothing else.

Can anybody remember the name, or even better, find a picture just for old memories sake ?

(and no, it is not the Windtools Booster which was a C kite with battens and not a flat kite)

I don't really remember, but maybe this helps?

The only kite I remember with clear mylar was from Italy...Challenger Kites or so?

Kite with battens I remember was the kite Cory Roesseler used back then?

And I remember a Gun Kite which had a frontube, and then battens. I think it was the first kite Peter Stiewe designed (now Best designer).

But I somehow remember the kite you mean...I think I flew it as well...I remember sliding the battens in...about that time...and didn't really work relaunching I think...

Maybe someone else?

ok, the one I remember was the Windtools! Just came to my mind, and saw it was the one you mentioned ;-)

So, maybe the Gun? It was flat, looked more like a foil, but had a frontube...

Can not remember for sure, if it WAS mylar, or just most parts that had transparent panels.

But the full battens, lots of transparency, and very very flat, just the tips bent down a bit - should be easy to recognize :naughty:

Waiting eagerly for someone to be able to remember this kite :thumb:

Davinci ?

Hmm, does not ring any bells, but as said, I might even have forgot the name when I read it.

But could not find a picture on the net that resembles, when searching for Davinci ?

JN made the Da Vinci Bat (a great light wind kite actually, in the 15m2), but that is/was an almost normal C kite and quite new.

I could also be wrong that it is not French....

Da Vinci was kind of a re-make of the original Seasmik

British kite but otherwise sounds like what you're thinking about.
