What to buy between 12-20know to pair with a Dice 10m

Postby Massimo » Mon May 05, 2014 11:43 am

Hey guys,

I get rid of my old RPM 10m which I replace it with a Dice 10m... what a difference :)

Now I whant to replace also my #@#@!! RPM 14M whit something more oriented on big air and old school.

Range 12/20 knots for me that I weight 85kg and I use 2 board: Radical L 139x43 for light wind days and LF influence 137 for wiundy days.

I was thinking to a naish Draft which I tried (12m) and I likeed it very very much, however I believe that the 12m is too small (overlapping the Dice) and the 14m is maybe too big and slow... it is a pity that Naish does not produce a 13m :(

What do you suggets? (no 5 lines rebel style, I do not like it)

Of course I can consider also 2013 kites...

Thanks

Hello Massimo,

If you are ready to think out of thé box, Nobile T5 12m. Fast, excellent lowend, on problem up to 23-25 knouts gusts, good jumping, lowend close to 10 knouts with a 42 cm board at 84 kg.

Core xr3 13,5, not bad Either but slower, more bar pressure...

Well to start with you needn't a fast turning kite for big old school airs and board offs. Infact the slower the better. I know I know I didn't believe this either until I nabbed a 16m 2011 dyno..and an 18m on the way :D.

I have been through the ringer on 12m kites, they just don't cut it man for what you want to do so forget them, there just not enough canopy in that range. I still have a 12m dice but I keep it for waves, unhooked stuff and water level freestyle..although 20 to 25 it still makes a decent powered old school kite. But it needs at least 20!!

The naish draft is a 14m for a reason, you want that canopy size and you want it as slow as possible.

If you want a more agile athletic kite the new Evo and the nitro 14m is two kites I'd consider but the naish draft is another winner. Didn't dig the core really but some do.

let's say that I will be able to test only F-One, Best, North, Slingshot, Ozone, Naish and Cabrinha therefore I will focus on these brands since I will never buy a kite without trying first

I was thinking to a 2013 North 14m Fuse... but will it be good enough in its high end?

If I want to do an F16 from time to time, will it be fast enough? I know that the 12m is fast enough but I am not sure about the 14m...

Righto tell me exactly what you want to do on this 14m? Be more specific regarding old school as they like to call it.

I know... lack of consistency

80% of the time big jumps with board offs (jumps must be high because I like to jump high)
But 20% of the time I would to do some f16 maybe a basic backroll unhooked.

But again, focus is on big air old school

Thanks

Well I'd say then try the north Evo, the Best TS, Give the Naish Draft another go considering what I said about the speed of the kite, and remember switch will always allow that 30 day money back guarantee thingy. Also maybe a bigger switchblade...

Reckon the fuse and the 10 dice overlap would be too small, the fuse is known to get powered very quickly in its range..

Ps heard on the grapevine that best are bringing out some killer kites and gear next season.. :)

ps Maybe leave the f16's for your smaller kite man. Although I reckon the evo, TS and Nitro it may still be possible in a 14m. Especially the TS having a fair bit of C in it.
