Retailer Commissions

Postby NYKiter » Mon May 19, 2014 4:26 pm

Does anyone know the various commission rates manufacturers offer retailers to sell their kites?
For example, does Best offer more than Slingy hence several retailers seem to be pushing TS at the moment? Does one offer more than others etc?

There is way more to it than commission, which there really is none in kite retail.

Maybe because there is a bunch of them left over because they aren't selling well?

I saw pyramids of new Best product at a major retailer recently priced at $500 but the sales guy had a 2 word vocabulary, "Liquid" and "Force".
Maybe some karma involved or bad feelings left over about Best buying up all the talent last year? Doubt it.
Or LF commissions higher?
Likely getting ready to order more LF gear so moving old stock?
All of the above, and more?
Who knows!?!?

He may be thinking of REAL kiteboarding in Hatteras which apparently got overstock from the Best company just up the street. I believe it's 2013 gear but they are new kites and seemingly a pretty good deal if you like the kites...
