I am thinking on staying a while in Maui (3 weeks) and a while in Oahu (2 weeks).
I am looking for a bed and breakfast, room rental, apart rental, or kite house next to the beach, near more relaxed, chillied out places, more cozy places, instead of the big touristic areas - planning on reant a car as well to get to know the place.
Any tips? Specially on accomodations, kite spots, interesting places to go....
Tks
and Aloha!

We rent a room in Kailua,no crowd ,long sandy beach, friendly people,no traffic, apart from worst ever foods a good vacation.
we rent a car and wandered eveyday around the island.can make daily trip from north to south.
waikiki area is touristic and crowded not to stay.
went twice in january and july, everything was easy (car, accomodation).
coming from europe it took 3 4 days for jet lag, some upset.
on the way back we stopped at maui airport 12 hours rent a car and went to see hookipa waves ......a dream!!!!!!
my wife was 15 18 kilos less at the time.....a dream!!!!
oufff ....the balloon is waking up preparing coffe..........

LOL!!!
Well at least there is coffee.
Anyway OP I think Kailua is a nice place. Main spots are Kailua and Moks. I think you do need to specify a bit more...but there are a lot of B&B over there.
