i know its not for central strut, but thought it would be interesting

Thanks again, CaptainArgh. I have leash lines connected to the hinges of all my different back doors now. I've lost a couple because of broken mounts and such. One had the floaty back door, but I couldn't find it because it was a windy day and I didn't see where it came off. (Anyone in the Avon or Buxton area of Hatteras, if you find my GoPro, let me know. I was windsurfing with a yellow Naish sail and JP board at the time).

I just got some good video with the strut mount.




I'm going to be able to get some good footage of my windsurfing friends with this.

you guys were right the foam did wobble after I sent it up. I decided using foam was silly I could just rely on the pressure of the kite to hold it in place like the following video



You clip it in place while the kite deflated, and when you inflate the kite it presses against the mount and holds it in place.

The strut mount is nice too, just updating where I eventually went with the leash mount idea.

My best video with this system so far.



This took a long time to edit because I didn't have the time that day to get the remotes working, and they weren't charged anyway. The next video is already filmed, but since I had two remotes zip tied to my bar, I was able to start and stop the recording, and even change modes to take pictures. Editing will be much easier.

saul I love that sailboat shot but you have so much fish eye going on here u might want to experiment with changing the field of view from ultra wide to medium.

I don't mind the fisheye.

edt: You really should just do it the easy way. All it takes is cutting the right length of PVC tube, cutting the right slot in it, and gluing on a mounting plate.

Saul, nice editing. It's a lot of work (for me) to keep the horizon straight when the kite is spinning around like that. Did you switch the camera on the kite at one point? The kite footage went from grainy to super crisp.

Have you ever deployed the safety with the line mount on your kite? Just curious how it worked for you. (the line mount...not the one at the kite)

no doubt. But I'm stubborn lol, I wanted to make this work. I'll make both mounts now that I got the leash style figured out.

I had two GoPros on at the same time. Next time I'm going to have the battery backpack on the camera on the strut. Since I can have the remotes strapped to the bar with zip ties, I can turn them on and off. I've got plenty of footage of me doing my entire repertoire of tricks, so what is of real interest is the location, so I will be using the one on the strut more for the panoramic view.

I've never had to let go of the kite with the line mount in place. But it should slide fairly well, allowing the kite to flag out in an emergency. When the mount is in place, I can slide it up and down the lines to adjust it pretty easily.
