Hello All,

I got this small tear on my kite, do you advice me to use kitefix ?

I tried the fiberfix on some spare spi i had at home and the result is pretty poor it's kind of ugly and looks sticky ;)

Shall i rather use a piece of dacron to fix that small tear ?

Or maybe Anything am i doing wrong with the fiberfix ?

How would u recommend me to fix this ?

thx

I always go to the local sailmaker. She'd charge me $20 and it would be perfectly made. I've used some kind of tape and fix once..I can't remember what I used, but I hated that solution...and it was just kind of fugly.

I bet some tape would hold fine, but I am kind of weird that way.

Easily fixed with Tear-Aid type A. Make sure to clean with Alcohol pads first.
The tape is clear and almost invisible.

Flysurfing, I never use fiber fix in my kite repair business for the reasons you gave. It's just plain ugly in appearance, and you can repair a kite more professionally with other material.

Use your dacron tape on both sides of the tear. From your photo, it looks like a strut (???) on a Naish Helix or Cult with the "octopus inflation system". You should be able to access the inside of the strut through a zippered pocket or the one-pump valve's hole. After you tape both sides, I'd suggest stitching around the edges of the patch. You can do this by hand (you'd have to open the strut to use a sewing machine). Rule of thumb is to stitch any tear exceeding one inch or at a high pressure point (struts or LE). Use dacron for the struts/LE and ripstop nylon for the canopy. If you can get the dacron tape both inside and outside the strut and hand-stitch the edges, it will be a solid repair.
