So, the news on the new Naish Pivot leaks, the news on the new Cabrinha bar leaks and what happens? They all get removed, erased, deleted because of timing issues.....

My perhaps unwanted, not being appreciated advice? Release the full information right away. Most have seen it anyhow and those that haven't can read all about it. I understand Toby removes it, the brands pay his living.

The way it is being done right now isn't even 2004 style anymore, it's plain childish, inmature behaviour of an in many ways inmature industry.

Are you kidding? Naish/Cab love the leak and then its removal. Movies are released with sneak peak shows all the time to drum up some buzz.

I am sure the companies exist on not publishing anything before a certain date.

But some shops or importers do, which they shouldn't.

And there are people taking pictures of new stuff which they also should not release.

Not a great situation for anyone involved, so it goes this way. Unfortunately.

If a photo is posted that is PR property of a company that's one thing. But if a photo is screen grabbed from a video (first 2014 cab pic last year on here) or taken by a forum member on a beach the company has no legal rights to request it has to be removed. Toby, you might as well delete any 'future' threads if they are just going to be censored anyways. There's no real discussion.

Instead of trolling maybe these companies can be more active on the forum in discussions and product support.

You nailed it. Stop being a bitch to the players. You know your value is in your users. If you lose their trust you will have nothing.

What if you climbed a dune to take a crap and someone secretly had a camera and took footage of your business? You'd probably want to get the footage back before it ends up on YouTube or on the home page of crazy poop fetish sites.

"Instead of trolling maybe these companies can be more active on the forum in discussions and product support". Agree

What you would want and what the photographer is legally required to do are two very different things. Last I checked you do not need to inform a kite that you are taking its picture....

When things like this are interesting, they usually get saved and reuploaded enough that no one bothers trying to hide them.
(hint, hint.)

Early release of photos of new gear before announced will tend to dry up sales until the new gear hits. To mitigate this effect, they should quickly follow up with full press release and delivery. Someone is getting paid the big bucks to do it as they are...May/early June for next year models is quite early, maybe the full press release is imminent?

Plausible explanation: they are running low on 2014 inventory and rather than build more 2014 stuff, they decided to move up the 2015 announcement?

Laughingman - nor do you need to inform the pooper he's being photo'd… My point is I can see how a kite company could want certain things back. Whether they get it back is up to the recipient - i.e. Toby…
