Hi guys, I was just wondering what is the most efficient inflatable kite for upwind efficiency currently in the market?
I know a few years back there was the Apollo from Cabrinha, and there is still the Edge from Ozone. But I don’t know if there is a kite that performs even better. We are bringing back twintip course race events in our country and I want to be well equipped. (Foil kites are not permitted).
Thanks

are hydrofoils allowed or is it twintip? If it is twintip, a race twintip will be twice as fast upwind as a normal twintip and the kite won't matter

Honestly the Ozone Edge is kind of the only LEI kite left that fits the bill, all the other HA 5 strutters are more focused on boosting.

Whats the average wind speeds you are you racing in?
Is it flat water or waves?
Also consider Core XR, Duotone Rebels, slingshot Rally or Machines.

Even the edge is developed towards big air as it's now possible to loop them. Good luck looping the earlier edges, so best look out for an older edge as those are a bit more race oriented.
And indeed find a board that's build for racing if that's allowed within the rules, as that would give you a bigger performance boost than any kite can give you.

I heard that the D-Lab kites have an amazing upwind performance since the LE is smaller in diameter. I know that in Brazils ralley de Sertões Reno Romeo was always the fastest upwind with the Juice D-Lab but he got overtaken by some locals in the downwind part of the race.
