Well summer is officially here in Okinawa and today was an epic session on my 18m Chrono. Really light wind. 2 guys maybe 60kgs on 19m Edges mowing the lawn, and I weigh in at a whopping 104kg this morning. I am managing to get some pretty awesome airtime in even the lightest of winds. Similar to my Edge 17 in 17+ knots. The wind was so light I'd say the biggest ripple was 10cm and parts where it was glass I could see all the coral and fish as if it was right in front of me. It's a game changer for summer for me. Time your jumps right and build up board speed and you can get some serious hang time even when I was worried if I could get back up wind it was that light. The fun factor for me is flat water kiting, while jumping and ripping upwind. Wind looks good for the next 10 days!
Hope everyone else is having fun!

What beach did you hit today? Igei?
Wish I had a super light wind kite too!
Theres been just enough wind to ride & get blown downwind! - quite frustrating!
I'm hoping to get out tomorrow..fingers crossed there's just a little more wind!!

So was it hard to handle (HP kite)? Have you ever had a FS speed?

Mibaru. I may hit it again tomorrow. Maybe see ya there? The Chrono is the best light wind kite I've used to date. It just adds so much more fun factor in the light wind field. Skimming across flat water then popping off is just magical. The best way to describe it is it's like listening to Deep House or Chill Lounge, while compared to listening to hard techno or rock music which would be the strong wind boost crash hard kiting.

Hmm as far as hard to handle, no it's very well behaved, but if you get a blow you need to maybe adjust depower quickly or edge hard on the upper limits of it range, or will rip you out of the water. Yes used S3 19 and 12 Ltd. The 12m Ltd loved it. Have a S4 12 and gutless, but turns fast.
Chrono Bridles are a major pain in the arse at times, but that's the price you pay for all the fun it gives you back. Not for everyone that's for sure.

Have you ever considered a hydrofoil ?
It would solve all these issues, and not even needing such a big kite.
I know many might laugh and don't really believe it.
But it surely is the big game changer nowadays
Suddenly kitesurfing is just as much fun in 8-10knots as in 20 knots, quite opposite to what we are used to
And then the Chrono will be even more amazing in marginal conditions if one searches for that

My S3.5 12m is my most favorite kite. Was going to get a Lotus 12 but went for the 15 instead. Wonder if yours is a Friday kite. Still would love to pick up a Lotus 12 for my one kite travel quiver.

I'm selling my 12 S4 if you are interested PM me.
Our island here is all reef so no one can foil unless you go out 1-2 KM past the reef. One guy tried and hit ground right away and toasted his several thousand dollar foil.
Does look like a blast though!

On Flyozone .com there are wind range charts for both Edge and Chrono.
The Edge17 has better wind range than the Chrono18.
May be it is just different skill levels?
I have flown the edge, and can go out at 6 knots on the 17m, 5 knots on the 19m.
Just like the chart says.
Has anyone else own both the Edge and the Chrono?
