Me too. I never miss a day with a 7 & 10m only this season = 17. My friend is even more of a minimalist, she is sponsored yet only rides with a 5 & 7 = 12. Means you can comfortably replace kites every season and travel easily. There is the possibility though that your building your quiver without the sweetest size kite for your area. I think 3 kites is ideal as wave rider. Interesting question. I guess a lot of it comes down to your weight, varying conditions of your location, and how wide your riding styles are.

Pivot 9, Pivot 7 = 16 do the trick for me
Having a limited quiver of 2 kites for a few years now, since the Bow evolution with extended wind range per kite and my 100% orientation to wave riding.
Sizes chosen according to my local conditions as well as my regular travel destinations (Canarias, Cabo verde). Also changing every season.
Lacking a 5m for nuclear days though

I like this - the less the better

Not doing it myself, as I am actullay into 45m2 which is a bit "bad" indeed, but we got all sorts of winds here, ranging from 20m2 to 4m2 kites, but having boards that can handle this, you dont need that big a range - althoug having surfed for so many years, I choose the luxury to have small steps in the range, as "why not" ?
Just like summer and winter tires, you "wear" less, so it does not really cost you

i think i know WWPMUS, you need to have more of the same size inferior and expensive foil kites with you on the beach. when one collapses in its nightmare bridles you wouldn't have the time to untangle the mess and just grab spare same size foil kite

Two maybe three kites max.

currently two 7's and an 11, with a couple others on Kijiji/craigslist.

This sport really is full of opposites. Just yesterday after a session a guy comes up and expresses how he really needs a bigger bar at the precise moment Im groovin on my little 45cm bar thinking how much I prefer tiny little bars.
