@BWD - I think you missed my point...
If i'm in bindings and my boards hitting my head then i've got bigger issues to worry about than wether i'm wearing a helmet or not haha!
...as in either my legs have dettached from my body or i have some sort of ultraspaz dislocation going on! I Don't disagree with any of your points.

What is being missed in this conversation is that most severe accidents happen on while launching and landing on land. So you can wax on all you like about why you don't need a helmet on the water then kill yourself with a rouge gust or botched solo launch on the beach.

Any way the helmet wearers will continue to wear helmets and the non helmet wearers wont. I guess Darwins theory of evolution will prevail. The weak will remove themselves from the gene pool. .

I think Seinfeld sums it up nicely.

I've seen a video of a guy who gets smacked in the head buy his own board while its still attached to his feel. I think you under estimate the forces involved and the ease in which your body will contort with a hard impact.

And feet do come out of boots, they don't last forever, etc.

Agreed. Although, as with most things it's down to the individual to assess your own scenario and particular risks. For me, it's not at a level where i deem it necassary.

Was he on an 8ft tt? Jokes aside, i'm not doubting the vid you've seen but that's gotta be a rare one no? I fully appreciate what your saying about the forces and what not but i'm pretty sure if my board is getting near my head my body's gonna be in a right f***ing mess. Fingers crossed the gopro's recording if it happens ha.

Depends what you've got and how well you crank em up. I've come back in on water ski's before where the boards snapped before it's pulled me or the inserts out.
