That's the size I have.
The Monk Forever is great.
You will love it, I'm sure.

I am 190 pounds right now.....as heavy as I've ever been.
But I was 180 pounds when I got it, and I'm normally at 175-180.
I found the next size down (in the Gorilla Monk) to be less than awesome at going upwind, but the most fun feeling board ever.
So the 134X42 Monk Forever gives that extra centimeter of width.
I also tend to think all the Shinn boards would do well with a centimeter or two extra length.

Just having a bit of a dilemma at the moment with sizing.
Both MikeB and I have been trying to work it out as I am on the cusp weighing in at 90kg and kiting in tropical winds 15-20 most of the time. We get 20+ only maybe 20% of the time.
Mark Shinn recommended the 42 as he now recommends the heavy weights on the 44.
It's more about getting on the Monk most of the time and not waiting to get 20+ to use it.
I tend to feel the 42 should be fine with flying Fuses as the kite have plenty of grunt.
Anyone wished they got the 44 instead of the 42 which are around my weight?

I'm 178 pounds (78 kg), and I have the 135x42 monk with the gorilla on the bottom, I hear the new monks have slightly better low end. I can use it with my 10M lithium as low as 12 knots in pretty variable winds, although I tend to switch up to a 145x44 Laluz for 10-15 knots. So the low end, even with the monk that is not suppose to be so is good at the low end, is still ok.

If you ride in 15-20 knots solid I would think the 134x42 will work, even at 90 kg I don't think I would go bigger. However, if there are holes of say 10-12knots then you'll have a problem, but it also depends and the size of kite you use and skill level.

I will say that the monk is really a great board for nasty conditions, it smooths out chop and waves, I've used it in 40 knots with super square waves and it was very comfortable. I bought it because I have a bad knee and have to say my knee hardly hurts after 3 hours of hard kiting. I don't know why its just a comfortable board, fast, carves well. The only thing it does not do well is pop, but you can, just not like a freestyle board, but that's not what it's all about.

The Monk 132x41 have smaller fins compare to the 134x42 (43mm versus 57mm) so that is why it is easier to go upwind on the 134x42. I am 195 pounds and I had the 134x42 last year but now I have the 132x41. I prefer the loose feeling of the smaller fins and I only use my Monk in 20+ knots. Below 20 knots I am only on a directional board.

These sizes are so close together is it really at all noticable? Has anyone tried the 134 back to back with 132?

Im 165 lbs, but just picked up a used 2014 134 because it was a screamin deal. Havent tried it out yet but I dont think I will notice the 2% difference in board width and 1.5% difference in length from the 132x41 size that I should be on.
