At the 2 minute mark in the video: I think he says they took out the "cam battens". Which ones is he referring too?

He said thinner struts and no battens to make the kite more flexible but what's the benefit of a flexible kite?

Battens make packing away a more finicky and time consuming process, if they have "de battened" the kite without changing it's "Rebelliousness" then I'd be happy.

Funny that North removed all kite manuals for 2014 kites from their website.

Don't care about pack up if the battens create more stability in the wing. Not sure why pack up should have any bearing on performance. If that stops a purchasing decision then you gotta question your motives.

But if they have removed them and the performance isn't affected then fine.

14/18 wind range, dealing with very small margins in terms of the power of the wind given small wind speeds. The 18 is for slowness, hangtime, as they said airstyle. Of course with a smaller 14m you will be able to work it more to slightly produce more power. The 18 will be drop set and forget, and you will have far more static grunt at the same wind speeds at the lower ends.

Personally I'm somewhat skeptical of the 18m rebel as an airstyle kite (and I don't mean boosting big airstyle can do that on any bloody kite), unless it's been called that for marketing sake and they bred in some of the unexpected findings of the 2011 dyno. They made a relatively shit racing kite and brewed somehow an awesome recipe for an airstyle kite.

But we will see suppose. As I said I'm not overly confident.

Yea North said several times before they are making Rebel struts thinner to make it more flexible IN THE AIR... now remove battens for same reason. Fine, but what's the benefit in terms of performance?
