Rock-climbing style harness?

Was there an attempt to make rock-climbing style harness (with two shoulder straps and two leg straps)? I imagine it combined with vest its stability would make an ideal harness for many kiters.

Rock climbing harnesses don't have shoulder straps. I think there might be such a thing for very specialized applications, but 99% of all the rock climbing harnesses out there are waist harnesses with leg loops and no shoulder straps.

But anyway, I can't think of any benefit to having shoulder straps. Why do you think they would be useful?

Was Dakine Matrix harness discontinued due to lack of popularity? (This would refute the whole idea of combined impact-waist-seat harness).

I've never worn a rock climbing harness but can't imagine they ride up your crotch like a seat harness... Why don't we have more kite seat harnesses like rock claiming harnesses?

I think Jays was like that but I've never seen one.

The Edelrid harness is a child's harness. The reason for the shoulder straps is to shift the tie in point higher up on the body. A child's head is very heavy in comparison to their overall body weight until they are about 7-8 years old so if you put them in a regular harness, there is a high chance of them flipping upside down in it. You can also buy adult harnesses with shoulder straps, but they are usually found in the safety industry and are very bulky and heavy.

Climbing harnesses are not really designed to be weighted the entire time. You'd be surprised at how uncomfortable it is to just hang in one for 10 minutes, much less an hour long session. They are really designed to effectively catch a fall, not put your weight into for long periods of time. I used to wear mine while snow kiting and eventually bought a waist harness because it was a lot more comfortable.

I wear my old climbing harness all winter long for snowkiting. I love it I've been hanging and climbing harnesses for 20 years and feel that they're usually more comfortable then kite harnesses

YEP ; and there's a Reason for that .

The leg-straps on my Dakine harness are 1 and 1/2 inch wide ( 38.1mm) ; now
look how wide the support is under the crotch, on this climbing harness i have
in in the shot below :

Though looking at the price I wish I hadn't given mine away years ago. From memory I think mine promoted a more hunch backed stance than I use for kiting.
