Cabrinha Overdrive 1XL bar with Switchblade 12m?

Hello everybody.

I have the cabriha contra 2014 mod with the overdrive 1XL bar, now I have ordered some switchblade kites (12m+9m) without the bar. My question to you guys is: do you think it will be OK with the xl bar (27m line) on thees kites or if the kite will fly badly? I know its recommended to use the L bar, but will the difference be huge? Would like to save some money and not get the new bar? At least not for a while.

It will work, but the lines are quite long for smaller kites imho, just be sure to keep you hands in the center of the bar so you do not over steer.

On the 9m Switchy the 27m lines will make it harder to hold an edge and pop during the send, but if you get it right enjoy.

I'd say just stick with that bar that you have. Cabrinha suggests using the smaller bar with the 9m, but the cutoff for the next size is at 10m (10m-17m is the optimal size kites to use it on). The 12m is right square in the bigger bar's range. If anything, adjust the bar for the smaller setting and keep your hands closer to the center of the bar. It might be sorta fun to use that 9 with the bar set to the widest settings!

I don't know about the 2015 Overdrive Bar but the 2014 normal one and XL one were both equiped with 22m lines. This was confirmed to me by cabrinha support.

I fly my 2012 switchblades 9M and 12M on the the 2015 1X bar and the lower V really improved the direct feel and turning speed. I think you will be fine on the XL by putting the bar ends on the narrow setting especially on the 12M, on the 9M maybe try the slower turning harness attachment, or try other adjustments if needed, bigger chicken loop, depower? If it doesn't work you can always buy the smaller bar later, a 2015, or a deal on an older bar.

Had a go today on the 9 m. And it went quite well I think. It was quite windy, at least 20kn. Think the long lines probably gave me some more power, wich I dident need today , the turning speed was more than ok. I dont like that the 2014 doesent have floaters on the steering lines, they got wrapped around the bar one time. Thanks for the feedback, think I will stick with this bar for some time.

The Lines on the 2015 Cabrinha Overdrive 1XL are 24m.
